I have been working on the Rowden Family Tree since 1998, I am a contributor/volunteer for Find A Grave.com (Mem # 48248356), and more recently a member of Tribal Pages, Y-DNA 37 marker FTDNA and Autosomal DNA with ancestry.com
Four major branches are: Rowden, Sutton, Amyett, Majors
Our Parker line includes my 'credentials to participate', my paternal gg grandmother, Amanda H Parker. This TribalPages tree focuses on the Parker ties, so approx 2700 others in my Rowden (1) tree on ancestry, are not included here. Thousands of Parker trees are on TP, many not claiming relationship to Elder John Parker and his line. My Parkers are of a different line than that of Elder John Parker but are no less important to the history of the early 1800's in Texas. A two-fold example would be John Worley Hatley, Texas Ranger and Alonce Tucker Mitchell, Texas Ranger. As the crow flies, my current home is 114.43 miles NE of Fort Parker (Groesbeck, Limestone, Texas). Then, too, DNA is proving to be eye opening in many ways. More to come.
A few thoughts - In the beginning (Circa 1998) I decided to construct and document the Rowden Family tree largely due to a national survey taken of high school students in the late 1990's . One telling and convincing fact that came out of that survey was that less than 3% of them could name their four grandparents. I rather suspect that number is not even that good today. My TP tree of Parkers is a continuation of our family history.
Lastly, my general philosophy of genealogy and our tree is that I want to 'put flesh on the bones rather than names on a page'. Every name has a story, tell it. GGR
